Grounds for Thai Work Permit to be Granted

If you're thinking of working in Thailand, there are certain requirements you need to meet in order to obtain a work permit. The Thai government will not approve you for employment without proof of your visa and your work experience. As such, a work permit is essential for foreign workers to be allowed to enter Thailand legally. These requirements include a marriage certificate, birth certificates of children, and household registration certificates. In addition, your passport should contain a photocopy of each page. Upon receiving the work permit, you will be required to stay at your place of employment for at least seven days and perform the work specified on the work permit. In some cases, certain conditions are applicable, such as short-term work permits and diplomats.

Work permit restrictions can include an extensive list of prohibited jobs. The Alien Employment Act of 1978 prohibits the employment of foreigners in many fields, including manual labor and agricultural work. You must therefore demonstrate that you can perform the job properly. If your Thai employer refuses your employment, your permit will be terminated and you may have to leave Thailand without permission. However, if you plan on working in more than one position for the same employer, you must obtain permission for each one separately. This permission is generally entered into your original work permit record.
