While the world is struggling with a resurgence of SARS CoV-2 infections because the lockdown restrictions have been relaxed and a new variant of SARS CoV-2 has 70% higher transmittability, daily infections in India have steadily declined.

India has reported fewer than 30,000 infections daily. India's daily fall growth has declined from 0.5% in November to 0.3% and from 0.8% in October. Until last month, when Delhi, Kerala and some other regions of the country saw daily case growth of over 1%, daily case growth for all states and union territories fell below 1% in December.

Although daily deaths have decreased, the decline in the growth rate of daily deaths is still small. Compared to the sharp drop from 0.7% in October to 0.4% in November, the daily growth rate in deaths only fell to 0.3% at the end of December. India's deaths and cases have moved at the same pace. However, when it comes to deaths, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala still have a daily death rate of over 1%.
