Actor Eddie Hassell dies after filming in Texas: US Media
(Reuters) – Actor Eddie Hassell, best known for his roles in 2010 Oscar-nominated The Kids Are All Right and NBC television show Surface, died after filming in Texas on Sunday the representative of the actor.
Hassell was shot dead in what appeared to be carjacking on Sunday morning, although the incident is still under investigation, entertainment news website Variety reported.
The New York Times reported that Hassell was shot dead in front of his girlfriend's apartment in Grand Prairie, a suburb of Dallas, around 1am on Sunday.
His representative told the newspaper that Hassell was shot in the stomach and taken to a nearby hospital where he died. The circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately clear.
The actor played Phil Nance on NBC's science fiction series "Surface," starred alongside Leighton Meester and Lake Bell, and appeared in 10 episodes.
In the 2010 film "The Children Are All Right", Hassell played Clay, a pill-blowing teenager.
