Coronavirus Live Updates, New Cases in Maharashtra, Delhi New Restrictions: Despite several measures, the number of new coronavirus cases continues to rise as India recorded 152,879 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours. According to the Union’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of coronavirus infections has exceeded the 13.35 million mark.
An alarming surge in coronavirus cases has forced the Delhi government to announce new restrictions. The government has banned most public gatherings and has limited participation in theaters, restaurants, and public transportation. The new rules, which remain in effect through April 30, also limit the number of people attending events such as weddings and funerals. The government said these rules will be implemented along with the previously announced curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
In the meantime, a four-day “Tika Utsav” or vaccine festival has started with the aim of vaccinating the maximum number of eligible people against the COVID-19. India started the vaccination campaign for everyone over 45 years of age. However, some states have stated they are facing a shortage of vaccines and urged the center to take appropriate action immediately.
