Lewis Hamilton has finally signed his new Mercedes contract to officially confirm his place on the Formula 1 grid for a 2021 season in which he will aim for an eighth world title.
More than a month after its previous contract expired, Mercedes confirmed that seven-time champion Hamilton had agreed terms for compliance – although, unlike previous contracts, only one year was announced.
"I'm looking forward to starting my ninth season with my Mercedes team-mates," said Hamilton.
"Our team has achieved incredible things together and we look forward to building on our success and continuously improving, both on and off the track.
"I am equally determined to continue the journey we began to make motorsport more diverse for future generations and I am grateful that Mercedes has been extremely supportive of my call to resolve this issue. I am proud to say that we continue these efforts. " This year a foundation was set up dedicated to diversity and inclusion in sport.
"I'm inspired by everything we can build together and I can't wait to get back on track in March."
