Jack Eichel Commerce Rumors: "Calls Acquired" for Sabers Star; Rangers reportedly

Jack could be out of the box in Buffalo soon.

Semi-retired NHL insider Bob McKenzie returned to the tweet machine Monday to share some pretty interesting news: Sabers center Jack Eichel wants (or can't) get out of Buffalo, and Sabers front office is answering calls for his Services.

Imagine my surprise when I started on the phone today and heard Jack Eichel's trade rumors, including unconfirmed chatter that he may have recently asked to trade with BUF and that NYR was among interested teams. Of course, this required further investigation.

McKenzie reports that Buffalo does not actively buy Eichel, but that Eichel is "frustrated" because the team is about to succeed.

"I hear that (trade talk) a lot," Eichel's agent Peter Fish said of McKenzie. "Jack wants to win, he's frustrated (he doesn't win), but no, he doesn't want out. Jack is preparing to go to Buffalo here sometime and prepare for the season whenever that may be. That's all what he controls. ""

McKenzie named the Rangers, who are at the top end of their organizational rebuilding and have been a competitive ice hockey team throughout the regular season, as an interested team. Currently they are number 1 in the 2020 NHL draft, with child prodigy Alexis Lafreniere likely to be picked with that pick.

McKenzie would end his tweet frenzy by reiterating that this is only a rumor and a guess at the moment, but that calls have been made and everyone involved was not out to push or push a deal.

The message from BUF is that Saber's Acorn is not buying, there is no real desire to trade it, but since Kevyn Adams became the new GM, several clubs have been calling about the availability of Acorn. NYR believed they were one of the teams that called. So calls were made; Calls were received.

In a shortened NHL regular season, the 23-year-old posted a career high of 36 goals in 68 games and has been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks after the Sabers shook their front office. Buffalo's new GM, Kevyn Adams, is unlikely to part with the Elite Center without an extensive package of tips, prospects, and proven talent.

Eichel's contract, which will earn him $ 10 million a year through 2026, is also an unaffordable factor in trade talks.

Still, McKenzie's surprising, supposedly legitimate rumor sparked discussion (and violent reaction) on Twitter:

Buffalo fans: This #Bills team is so much fun! Nothing can ruin our mood. 3-0 baby !!

Be honest, how many times did you click the McKenzie profile to make sure it wasn't a fake when the acorn tweets started? Finally three, right?

I firmly believe that Jack Eichel did not request a trade, and I would assume with 99% certainty that he will be in Buffalo's lineup with no serious doubt first. But if you think there is literally nothing in the acorn / NYR junction then I have a bridge to sell to you.
