The memoirs she co-wrote with her husband Jeremy Vuolo, titled The Hope We Hold, show how Jinger reacted to the 2015 scandal and how it affected her family!

Jinger admits she was so ashamed that she wanted to hide from the world.

However, the large family knew about it for years before the scandal exploded, but decided to keep it under wraps.

“My brain hadn’t quite caught up with the reality of what had happened in just a few hours. That same day, Dad had gathered my siblings and me to tell us about the worst trial in our family’s history. A process that we had long been concerned with and with which we had made peace was now publicly known, ”she writes.

The Duggar kids had been reality TV stars since the premiere of 19 Kids and Counting in 2008, but nothing had prepared them enough for so much public inquiry.

Jinger admitted that she didn’t really know how to treat her family when she was on the tabloids.

I felt shocked, like a bomb had just exploded. Moving around in a daze, living a nightmare that I wholeheartedly wished for wasn’t real. One of my siblings had made some sinful choices, but it had been years. It had been awful, but we had dealt with it as a family. We sought the Lord, we took the necessary steps to attain healing, and we offered our forgiveness. Now that it was so public, the old wound was open again, raw and painful. ‘

Ironically, Josh was arrested for CP possession just 5 days before Jinger’s book was published, so the wounds must be more open than ever at this point!
