As of December 2, McDonald & # 39; s McRib is returning to menus nationwide for the first time since 2012.
The limited-time pork sandwich is brought back every year but is notoriously difficult to find. McDonald & # 39; s even released its own McRib locator app that customers can use to find restaurants that they've sold.
The fast food giant brought the McRib to 10,000 of its 14,000 US restaurants in its largest rollout since 2012. The item has appeared on McDonald & # 39; s menus in the US since 1982, helping the chain attract customers to their restaurants during the holiday season.
The nationwide launch this year comes as McDonald’s sales in the US rebound from the coronavirus pandemic. In early October, the chain announced that sales in the same store in its home market rose nearly 5% in the most recent quarter. The McRib's popularity could lead to even higher sales growth, although a resurgence in Covid-19 cases could hinder McDonald's recovery.
McDonald’s shares, valued at $ 162 billion, are up 6% so far this year. The stock fell nearly 1% at the close of Friday market due to a wider market sell-off.
