Post Capitals, then delete tweet praising Tom Wilson after hitting bangs Rangers

It’s understandable to appreciate and celebrate the players on your team. However, it comes at a time when it is completely inappropriate to do so.

That time came Monday evening for the capitals.

After Tom Wilson scored an empty goal to seal his team’s 6-3 win over the newly eliminated Rangers (thanks to the Bruins’ 3-0 win over the Devils), the Capitals social team released a graph showing the Praising strikers seemed to be in a now-deleted tweet:

MORE: Capitals’ Tom Wilson hits Pavel Buchnevich on the head and slams Artemi Panarin on ice

Sure, Wilson scored his 13th goal of the season. The bottom part pays homage to the Bruins’ David Pastrnak tweet just before bubble hockey last summer that read, “I think Tom Wilson is the top scorer in the league.” “

Cool. Large. The rest of the picture, yes, not so much.

Why? It came after a game in which Wilson was passed on penalties for 14 minutes after punching a defenseless Pavel Buchnevich who was lying on the ice in the head. He then hit Artemi Panarin – whose helmet had come off – on the body after coming to the aid of Buchnevich and Ryan Strome, who were pursuing Wilson after the blow on Buchnevich.

To say that a man who has had dirty games and suspensions in the past, as long as a CVS receipt stays rent-free in people’s minds, doesn’t look good. If his dangerous game produces “haters” then it is well deserved.

And considering the news comes from your social team … double, doesn’t look good.
