Prandelli replaces Iachini at Fiorentina

Giuseppe Iachini was sacked by Fiorentina as head coach and the Serie A club appointed Cesare Prandelli in his place.

Prandelli is returning for a second outing in Florence after coaching Fiorentina between 2005 and 2010.

After two wins from seven games this season, his job will be to revive the club's fate as he is 12th in Serie A.

"I would like to personally thank Beppe Iachini, who dragged and led the team at the most difficult moment of last season," said club president Rocco Commisso.

"Unfortunately, the current results require a change in the technical guide.

"I would also like to personally welcome Mr Prandelli.

"We believe his skills, career and humanity, recognized and valued by the whole world of football, make Prandelli the best person to sit on the viola."

Fiorentina did not confirm Prandelli's contract term but said he would be presented to the media on Tuesday.
