Rayne Roberts develops "The Acolyte" along with Leslye Headland

Rayne Roberts, Vice President for Film Development at Lucasfilm, is developing the series The Acolyte Star Wars for Disney Plus together with the Russian puppet maker Leslye Headland.

Of all the new Star Wars titles that Lucasfilm announced two weeks ago during Disney's Investor Day, The Acolyte remains the most mysterious for several reasons. The upcoming Disney Plus series is being developed by Leslye Headland and described by Lucasfilm as a "mystery thriller" that will transport audiences into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side forces in the final days of the High Republic era.

The High Republic era begins next month with the release of Star Wars: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. As the new Star Wars era begins to grow, Leslye Headland is currently developing The Acolyte series, and Lucasfilm recently announced that she will be teaming up with Rayne Roberts. Roberts has been involved as the creative manager on all Star Wars films under Disney and also worked on Rebels as a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group.

Is The Acolyte the Star Wars project you're looking forward to the most? If not, where is it for you? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!

Here is the recap of the first book in the High Republic era, Star Wars: Light of the Jedi:

It's a golden age. Intrepid hyperspace scouts extend the reach of the Republic to the most distant stars, worlds prosper under the benevolent guidance of the Senate, and peace reigns supreme through the wisdom and strength of the well-known Order of Force users known as the Jedi , is forced. With the Jedi at their height, the free citizens of the galaxy are confident they can weather any storm. But even the brightest light can cast a shadow, and some storms defy preparation.

When a shocking hyperspace disaster tears a ship to pieces, the flood of splinters from the disaster threatens an entire system. As soon as the call for help goes out, the Jedi rush to the scene. However, the scope of the creation is sufficient to push even Jedi to their limits. As heaven breaks open and destruction rains on the peaceful alliance they helped build, the Jedi must rely on the Force to guide them through a day when a single mistake could cost billions of lives.

Even if the Jedi bravely fight calamity, something truly deadly grows beyond the borders of the Republic. The hyperspace disaster is far more sinister than the Jedi could ever suspect. A threat hides in the dark, far from the light of time, and holds a secret that could frighten even a Jedi.
