Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G

Google

Apple's new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are excellent phones, but some people prefer Android devices.

There are three really good Android phones recently released that you should know about in case you want an upgrade but don't want the iPhone 12. They all include 5G, like the new iPhones, so if you plan to stick with your phone for the next few years, you will future proof yourself. They also have solid cameras. And they're all cheaper than the standard iPhone 12, which starts at $ 799.

Samsung Galaxy FE 5G

The Samsung Galaxy FE was released earlier this month. It has many of the features found in Samsung's more expensive flagship phones, but starts at $ 699 instead of the $ 999 found on the Galaxy S20 phones. It's made of aluminum and plastic – which is one place Samsung cut costs – but still has a high quality Qualcomm 865 processor, a sharp and colorful screen, and is waterproof. And like the iPhone 12, it comes in a range of colors like red, blue, purple, and green.

It also has a few features that the iPhone 12 doesn't have. For example, it comes with a high-refresh display that's smoother than the one on the iPhone 12 when you're scrolling through websites or Twitter, for example. There's also a fingerprint reader under the screen that lets you unlock your phone with a mask (which makes unlocking facial recognition like Apple's FaceID difficult). I like that it has a microSD card so I can expand the storage to download more movies and games.

Google Pixel 5

The Google Pixel 5 is priced at $ 699 and is a great choice if you're looking for a phone that isn't too big and easy to use with one hand. I really like the colorful screen, great camera, and long battery life. It also feels very fast, despite a mid-range Qualcomm processor.

That's because Google put a lot of work into optimizing the software. There's a fingerprint reader on the back – also useful if you're wearing a mask – and it can do some of the tasks of an iPhone 12, such as: B. Portraits in night mode. I also like the soft-touch aluminum body that doesn't get smudged with fingerprints and the unique green color that Google sells.

Finally, the Pixel 5 has some Google-exclusive features that I love that aren't available on other Android phones. The voice recorder app, for example, automatically transfers interviews to text. It can detect if you've been in a car accident and automatically dial 911. It also has great spam call checking features.

OnePlus 8T

OnePlus made a name for itself as a company selling affordable phones with flagship specifications. Prices have risen sharply in recent years, but the OnePlus 8T is making a return to the original model, offering high-end specs for a phone that starts at $ 749.

OnePlus phones are also known for being super-fast, and the OnePlus 8T keeps that promise.

It has a colorful and high quality metal and glass design like the iPhone 12, plus one unique feature that I really like: it can be fully charged in 39 minutes, faster than any other phone I've tested. The iPhone 12 charges to 50% in about half an hour. But you don't get wireless charging or certified water resistance, two things I love to have.

Like the Galaxy FE, it has a fingerprint reader that works well and is hidden on the screen. The cameras are good enough, but I prefer the pictures from the Pixel 5 and Galaxy FE. However, you still get wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and a macro lenses for many different types of photos, from landscapes to close-ups.
