Warner Bros. is still developing the sequel to Joaquin Phoenix ‘Joker’
Warner Bros. is reportedly still working on a sequel to the hit Joker standalone film starring Joaquin Phoenix.
Joker is one of the most hit DC films of all time, having made $ 1 billion at the box office and winning multiple Academy Awards, including Beat Actor for Joaquin Phoenix. It’s almost inevitable that Warner Bros. will want to develop a sequel, and previous reports have suggested so too. However, Todd Phillips has also disproved that a sequel was being worked on.
A recent report from The Hollywood Reporter on the search for a black Superman also mentioned that the upcoming film will take place outside of the DC Extended Universe, such as Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Joker and its sequel, which apparently is still in the works. Nothing else is known about this sequel to Joker, but it is safe to assume that Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix would return if it happened.

Here is the official recap of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker:
The director Todd Phillips “Joker” revolves around the iconic archenemy and is an original, stand-alone fictional story that has never been seen on the big screen before. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, portrayed indelibly by Joaquin Phoenix, is about a man who struggles to find his way in Gotham’s broken society. A clown for hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic by night … but he finds the joke always seems to be on him. Trapped in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes a poor decision that creates a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham.
Joker is available for 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and digital. Visit Heroic Hollywood for the latest news regarding the planned sequel and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
