The first half of the NFL season is officially over, but the list of end-of-season injuries continues to pile up. As Fantasy Owners feel mounting dismay from weekly lineup issues throughout the season, DFS sites like DraftKings and FanDuel are growing in popularity. Why roll the dice with the same team for three months when you can put together a brand new (and healthy) team every week? Week 9 is the perfect time to make the switch as there are plenty of sleepers and value picks out there that can help you finish a daily fantasy football competition.

If you've read this column last week, sorry for the mulligan. We'd just finished a winning lap from hitting all but two value picks in week 7 and got a healthy serving of humble cake. When choosing under-the-radar players, it happens to the best of us.

We scored with RB Giovani Bernard (22.8 PPR points) and WR Brandon Aiyuk (23.1), but admittedly, for the first time in the entire season, there were far more mistakes than hits. We're going to make it a once in a lifetime event by a blue moon on Halloween and we will walk forward with our heads held high. There are tons of puns to enjoy today and dad jokes a lot to keep our spirits up.

WEEK 9 DFS TOURNAMENT LINEUPS: DraftKings | FanDuel

NFL DFS chooses week 9: QB thresholds, values

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers versus Las Vegas Raiders (DK: 6,800 USD | FD: 7,900 USD)

No one is going to blame you for spending a few hundred more on Deshaun Watson in Jacksonville, but it's just impossible to escape Herbert the way he's playing. The child is absolutely not afraid and his combination of vision, accuracy, and arm strength far exceeds the vast majority of experienced QBs. Add that his defenses crumble with seemingly every lead he gives them and you have constant volume to go with consistent talent. As long as Herbert is listed below $ 7,500, he's a great pick almost every week. The Raiders give the ninth most fantasy points to QBs, so don't over-think it and give him Justin time.

Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (DK: 5,700 USD | FD: 7,000 USD)

We've sung this tune before, but the way Carr plays against forgiving secondaries makes it too tempting to pass up. The Chargers have a good front seven, but their back four still leave teams in the air in games. Expect a shootout like Oddsmaker definitely do – the implied total as of Tuesday morning is 52. As of Week 2, Carr has averaged 27.4 Fantasy Points when the Raiders score 23 or more points in a game. Chargers D could be exactly what the mechanic ordered to get that old Carr back on track. (Could be, I'm addicted to puns.)

Drew Lock, Denver Broncos at the Atlanta Falcons (DK: 5,200 USD | FD: 7,200 USD)

Lock danced nerdy on the sidelines last Sunday after storming back against glowing Chargers 31-30 after a 21-point deficit in the third quarter. He stank in the first half, but he gave an emotional half-time speech and challenged the intestinal strength to recover. After winning the game for the Broncos with a triumphant touchdown after time ran out, Lock had final stats of 248 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Now consider that he's taking on a notoriously lavish passport save for hawks in week 9, and you should be licking your chops at these prices. Lock him up for more than 20 points.

WEEK 9 DFS CASH LINEUPS: DraftKings | FanDuel

Week 9 DraftKings, FanDuel Picks: RB thresholds, values

David Johnson, Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (DK: 5,600 USD | FD: 6,800 USD)

This has been criticized as a boring or safe choice, but value selection is often both. The Jaguars give the fifth most fantasy points to running backs, starting someone named Jake Luton instead of Gardner Minshew, who has a thumb injury. We don't like Luton's chances against the Texans. Johnson has appeared in over 80 percent of Houston's offensive snapshots, averaging 4.7 meters per touch. This DJ may not have all of the funky new jam songs, but he has a good enough playlist to get the job done week after week.

Chase Edmonds, Arizona Cardinals v Miami Dolphins (DK: 6,800 USD | FD: 7,400 USD)

It's Edmond's time in Arizona again. Starter Kenyan Drake is recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the Seattle victory before the cards left. Edmonds has done admirably in his limited capacity. Although he played in just over 36 percent of the offensive snaps prior to Drake's injury, the third year backlog averages 25.1 rushing yards and 31.7 receiving yards per game. At $ 6,800 and a mid-of-the-pack run defense, take a man who averages 6.1 yards per carry, 8.5 yards per reception, and 81.3 percent of his goals. He rushed for 58 yards five times and hit all seven of his targets for 87 yards against Seattle so it's safe to keep track of the points here.

Zack Moss, Buffalo Bills v Seattle Seahawks (DK: 5,200 USD | FD: 5,800 USD)

Moss appeared in this column a few weeks ago, which in hindsight turned out to be a week premature. The rookie back exploded last weekend against division rivals Patriots, collecting 81 rushing yards and two points. He's still giving backfield passes to sophomore Devin Singletary but he's had significantly more breakouts and the coaches obviously prefer him near the goal line. Expect more than just a few red zone opportunities for the talented Utah product in a classic shootout. You are skeptical now, but Moss will grow on you.

WEEK 9 PPR RANKING:
Quarterback | Run back | Wide receiver | Narrow end | D / ST | Kicker

FanDuel, DraftKings Picks Week 9: WR thresholds, values

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills (DK: 6,800 USD | FD: 7,400 USD)

Two weeks ago, Arizona star cornerback Patrick Peterson assigned to take the second year-born DK Metcalf stud off the offensive. He even saw a double cover. The result: 53 Fantasy points for Lockett. Last week, San Francisco successfully stopped Lockett from harming her and instead ceded 40.1 Fantasy Points to Metcalf. How crazy it must be planning a defense against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Next up is Metcalf: Bill's star cornerback Tre’Davious White, which likely leads Wilson to look for number 16 again. Ten catches for 150 yards and a score? Lockett in.

Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (DK: 5,500 USD | FD: 6,100 USD)

Suffice it to say we like the Texans' skill position players versus the seedy jaguars. After a shaky first four games with Houston, Cooks found his rhythm with Watson, averaging 22.6 PPR points in his last three competitions. It's a WR1 with a WR3 price tag. He sees the field at 83 percent of the offensive snaps in Houston and has averaged eight catches on ten targets in the last three games (in two of the three games). Here a bet is made that he will cook with gasoline again on Sunday.

Marvin Jones Jr., Detroit Lions at the Minnesota Vikings (DK: 5,100 USD | FD: 6,100 USD)

Throughout his career, Jones has been one of the toughest fantasy football players ever to project week after week. With Kenny Golladay out with a hip injury, some of Matthew Stafford's goals should go back to Jones' path in a high-scoring game. Jones had a target stake of 16.6 percent last week after Golladay fell against the Colts' elite defenses. Two of his catches landed him in the end zone. The first was an intersection punch from Stafford, which Jones snatched and then muscled by a defender to cross the plane. The second was a fourth quarter hook route that Jones got up and pinned to his chest for a four-yard score. The Vikings are the third greatest defense for receivers in the fantasy, so they will most likely be Jonesing on Sunday.

9TH WEEK STANDARD RANKING:
Quarterback | Run back | Wide receiver | Narrow end | D / ST | Kicker

Week 9 NFL DFS picks: TE thresholds, values

Noah Fant, Denver Broncos at the Atlanta Falcons (DK: 4,600 USD | FD: 5,800 USD)

It's time Fant showed up as the Broncos' strong fans all know he can be. Against the hawks, ranked last dead in fantasy points, what better time to stack him and the aforementioned lock? He racked up 11.7 Fantasy Points against the Chargers last week, and Lock has narrowed down his looks in each of the past few games. RotoQL projects Fant achieve 12.5 points and give their upper limit well over 24. That would make fantastic value! (I know we hit new lows.)

Darren Fells, Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (DK: 4,200 USD | FD: 5,200 USD)

Everything in the Texans! Jacksonville ranks 27th in fantasy points that can get tight, and Fells has very quietly scored 34.2 PPR points in the last two games in Houston. Don't be surprised to see Watson and Company take on division rivals Jaguars this week and claim their dominance as the better of the 1-6 AFC South teams. If you're feeling like Darren, you might find yourself heavily rewarded if the veteran scores for the third time in four games.

Week 9 NFL DFS scores: D / ST thresholds

Arizona Cardinals vs Miami Dolphins (DK: 2,900 USD | FD: 4,300 USD)

Admit it: you thought we were going Texans here. Do I have to be confused sometimes, so why not with an underrated cardinal defense? The Arizona D / ST have scored 29 Fantasy points in their last three games, despite having faced Russell Wilson last time. This weekend is a much easier challenge as Arizona welcomes Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa on his second start as a pro (Tua had 93 yards and a touchdown on his debut last week and only scored 6.72 in the Dolphins' 28-17 win Fantasy points the Aries). RotoQL projects a 6.3-point floor and a 15-point ceiling for Zona, the highest of any team whose price at DraftKings is at or below $ 3,000. Play your cards with confidence.
