Commercial Mixing Tools Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) Totes
Easy Mixing commercial quantities of product often requires industrial-sized equipment. White Mountain Process can help you choose the right mixer based on your product and application.
Fork mixers use a gentle form of mixing that minimizes heat and friction in dough. They are typically found in Italian and French kitchens.
Planetary mixers are ideal for a bakery or pizzeria that mixes many types of ingredients on a regular basis. They keep the bowl stationary while agitators rotate.
Tote Mixers
Tote mixers attach to cage style totes and provide powerful agitation. These tote agitators are designed to reach all the way to the bottom of the tote and mix its contents thoroughly, saving time and energy over traditional hand mixing. They can also be mounted to a standard hand-held drill for easy operation.
These tote agitators are available with a variety of mounting styles, drive motor options including air, manual, power or explosion proof and sizes that match the tote opening. IBC agitators with air motors are ideal for chemical, paint and other liquid applications and can be powered by an electric, pneumatic or totally enclosed fan cooled industrial air motor that is explosion proof.
Tote agitators with collapsible turbines fold down for insertion through the tote's 6" top opening and then unfold to allow the 5.75" diameter mixer blades to mix inside. This allows the tote agitator to effectively stir and mix all of the contents of a Schutz style IBC tote.
IBC tanks are a cost-effective and safe way to transport and store liquids and dry flowable products. A variety of materials and features are available to meet specific needs. IBCs can be rented or purchased and most have barcode and RFID tracking systems for easy inventory control.
Rigid IBCs have an integrated pallet base that allows for universal maneuverability via forklift and pallet jack channels. They’re also generally designed to fit within standard pallet dimensions.
Caged IBCs are often preferred for storing and handling flammable, toxic, or hazardous products. These totes have large 22” bolt-and-clamp manways, stainless steel outlet valves and top-located lifting lug eyelets for safe container access and transportation. Caged IBCs are FDA, ANSI, and NSF 61 approved for potable water. They are ideal for oil and gas applications, onshore and offshore drilling and production, and application chemicals. The totes are fabricated from high-density polyethylene that meets DOT and IMDG handling requirements and NFPA 30 fire codes for Class IB combustibles.
Bulk Pump Mixers
Using a combination of agitation and pumping, these mixers can disperse, emulsify, chill or dissolve mixes into bulk containers of 7 to 7,925 gallons. These mixers are 3A-approved and sanitary with stainless steel type 316 wetted parts with a #4/32 Ra finish.
Welded agitators have paddles that scoop, lift and tumble to gently handle your mix. They are appropriate for food mixes that need to maintain the integrity of different particulates (different shapes, sizes and densities) or sensitive pharmaceutical materials.
This is the most simple style of mixer and the least expensive. These have a direct shaft coupled gear pump that can run at a lower speed than other pumps for less shear and heat generation. These are best for liquids that have low viscosities. They are easy to clean and service for maintenance technicians. They also have a recirculating three-way valve that diverts flow to the mixer during mixing cycles and then back to the supply tank during settling.
Single Use IBC Mixers
Single use mixers offer an efficient solution to reducing production downtime. With a quick changeover between mixing orders, the time needed to clean a mixer and wait for it to process a new order can be minimized.
Settled solids and high viscosity liquids can be quickly homogenized in any size IBC tote tank container using a powerful IBC tote mixer agitator. Even MixTM IBC tote mixer features innovative collapsible blades that fit inside the 6" opening of a standard IBC container and expand on start-up.
This allows for overall mixing that would otherwise be impossible with a traditional IBC tote mixer. A variety of options are available for stationary IBC tote mixers including UN/DOT accepted models, air driven or electric motors and a wide range of blade sizes. These mixers are easy to install and operate with little maintenance. They are also compact and lightweight, making them portable. This saves space, reduces the need for bulk storage and cuts transport and cleaning costs.
